OverviewPrivacyCookies & trackingTerms & submissionsEditorial policyNewsletter

The Bellingham Sounds newsletter is sent by Bellingham Digital LLC, doing business as Bellingham Sounds. It brings together an editor's note, local shows, occasional links to our reporting, and Bellingham Sounds updates. Any sponsorship or affiliate relationship is identified with the relevant content.

Choosing to subscribe

We send the newsletter to people who ask to receive it. Website signup requires confirmation of the email address before activation. Confirmation helps prevent someone else from signing you up. If you receive a confirmation you did not request, you can ignore it or contact us if the requests continue.

While the list is being set up, you can leave your email for a confirmation on Sunday. We store your request privately; you are not subscribed and will not receive the newsletter until you confirm your address.

Submitting a show or correction, appearing in a listing, sending a message, buying a ticket from another business, or accepting website cookies does not subscribe you. We do not add purchased lists, scraped addresses, or address books to the newsletter.

The newsletter is generally weekly, with occasional additional Bellingham Sounds updates. We identify the sender and use subjects that describe the message. A confirmation or response to a request is separate from permission for unrelated promotional messages. Signup is not intended for children under 13; any higher local minimum age for a person's own consent also applies.

Information and service providers

We use your email address, confirmation and preference records, and limited delivery information to provide and manage the newsletter. An email delivery provider processes the address and message for sending and handles necessary delivery, bounce, and complaint information. Our Privacy Policy explains retention, recipients, international processing, and your rights.

Newsletter signup may use Cloudflare Turnstile to help prevent automated abuse. Cloudflare processes browser and challenge information for these security checks under its Turnstile Privacy Addendum.

We do not sell subscriber addresses or upload them to advertising audiences. We do not use newsletter opening pixels or individualized click tracking. Links can lead to our website or an outside service; those services have their own notices and controls. Necessary delivery information is separate from measuring whether a person opened a message or which individual links they selected.

Leaving the mailing list

Every newsletter includes an unsubscribe route and identifies its sender. You do not need an account, password, payment, or reason to leave. A normal unsubscribe link leads to a simple confirmation page so an automated email scanner does not change a subscription by accident. Compatible mail clients may also offer an unsubscribe control.

We stop further newsletter sending when an unsubscribe is recorded, including messages still waiting in our sending queue. A message already handed to the delivery provider may still arrive. We keep a minimal suppression record where needed to prevent an address from being added again accidentally. A new subscription requires a valid new request; importing a list does not override an opt-out.

An opt-out does not stop a response you specifically requested or a communication we are legally required to send, but we do not use that distinction to continue marketing. Cookie choices and newsletter preferences are separate.

If an unsubscribe route does not work, or you want help with an address held in a mailing record, use Privacy requests and legal contact. You do not need to wait for another newsletter to contact us.

Corrections and unexpected email

Concert details may change after an email is sent. Check the linked calendar and the organizer or venue for current information. Our Terms of Use and Editorial Policy explain our role as an independent publisher and how to request a correction.

If you receive an unexpected newsletter, an unsubscribe link does not work, or you believe someone used your address without permission, contact us. Include the sending address, subject, and approximate date, without forwarding unrelated private information about other people.

Changes

We identify material changes to newsletter purposes and obtain any new permission required by law before using an existing subscription for a different purpose. A change of branding or revised policy does not automatically authorize unrelated marketing or transfer permission to a different business.
