Terms & Submissions

Our role as an independent music guide, use of our publications, and the permissions requested for original submission material.

Effective October 22, 2026 · Bellingham Digital LLC, doing business as Bellingham Sounds

OverviewPrivacyCookies & trackingTerms & submissionsEditorial policyNewsletter

Bellingham Sounds is operated by Bellingham Digital LLC, doing business as Bellingham Sounds ("we," "us," or "our"). These Terms cover bellinghamsounds.com and our associated newsletters, social posts, downloadable calendars, and posters, to the extent applicable to each channel. They also explain the terms on which we accept event, artist, venue, and correction submissions.

1. What Bellingham Sounds provides

We publish an independent guide to local music, including event information, venue and artist information, recommendations, and editorial material. We select, organize, edit, and distribute information from public sources and submissions. Coverage is selective; a listing, omission, recommendation, or link does not imply an affiliation with an artist, venue, promoter, or ticket company.

Unless a particular offer expressly identifies us as the seller or organizer under separate terms, we do not sell tickets, organize the listed events, operate the venues, or control admission. Event organizers and ticket sellers are responsible for their own services, policies, and representations.

2. These Terms and your choices

Please read these Terms before submitting material or reusing our publications. The Submission Terms below explain publication permissions we may request. A publication license applies when you agree to it or otherwise validly grant that permission; reporting a privacy, security, or legal concern does not itself grant a publication license. A separate agreement may apply to a paid service or other transaction if we introduce one; we will present its terms before you agree to that transaction.

Our Privacy Policy explains personal information handling. Reading it or using the site does not itself provide consent to optional tracking or subscribe you to email. Those choices are made separately. The Editorial Policy explains our publication practices.

These Terms apply only to the extent they form an enforceable agreement under applicable law. Nothing here limits a right or remedy that cannot lawfully be limited.

3. Check the organizer before making plans

Dates, times, doors, prices, availability, age restrictions, accessibility arrangements, lineups, and locations can change. We work to publish useful information, but cannot promise that every listing is complete, current, or error-free. A time may refer to doors or the performance; check the field label and original listing. Prices may exclude a seller's taxes or fees. An age label does not override a venue's admission or identification rules.

Confirm important details with the organizer, venue, or ticket seller before purchasing, traveling, or attending. Direct ticket refunds, cancellations, chargebacks, and admission questions to the party responsible for that transaction. We cannot change another business's booking or refund policy.

Our descriptions and recommendations are editorial information, rather than individualized safety, legal, medical, or accessibility advice. Contact the venue for a specific access accommodation or safety concern. For an emergency, contact the appropriate emergency service.

4. Links and other platforms

Links may take you to ticket sellers, Google Forms, artists, venues, social platforms, or other third parties. Their terms and privacy practices govern their own services. A link alone is not a guarantee of the destination's claims, availability, or security.

Our posts on Instagram, Facebook, and other platforms are also subject to those platforms' rules. We may correct a website listing sooner than an already delivered email, printed poster, or third-party repost can be updated.

5. Reasonable use of our publications

You may link to our public pages, use the sharing functions we provide, and share an unaltered calendar or poster we expressly make available for distribution, including displaying it at a community venue. Keep its credits, branding, dates, and any disclosures intact. Do not suggest that we endorse you or that you are our official representative. A separate image, article, or third-party asset may have its own rights or restrictions.

We or our licensors retain rights in our original writing, designs, artwork, logos, and protected selection or arrangement. We do not claim ownership of underlying event facts, artist names, or another person's work. These Terms do not restrict fair use, quotation, accessibility uses, public-domain material, or other uses permitted by law. For republication beyond the permission above, contact us.

Do not impersonate someone, submit fraudulent listings, send malware or spam, bypass access controls, misuse private subscriber links, or obtain private information without authorization. Do not use automated requests in a way that materially disrupts our services. This does not prohibit lawful research, accessibility tools, or collection of public facts merely because it is automated; other applicable rights and laws still apply.

6. Submission Terms

What you may submit

Submit information you reasonably believe is accurate and relevant to our coverage. Identify yourself truthfully if requested. If you act for an artist, venue, promoter, employer, or other organization, you must have authority to make the submission and grant the relevant permissions.

Do not submit unlawfully obtained information, threats, harassment, discriminatory abuse, materially deceptive claims, or private information about another person without a lawful basis. Do not include passwords, financial details, health information, or other sensitive personal information in a listing. A public-facing description is not a private message to an editor.

You must have the legal capacity to agree to these Submission Terms. If you are under the age of majority where you live, a parent or guardian must agree on your behalf. We do not knowingly accept submissions directly from children under 13. Event admission labels such as "All ages" describe the event, not permission to submit personal information.

Your ownership and our permission

You keep ownership of material you submit. When you agree to these Submission Terms or otherwise validly grant this permission, you give Bellingham Digital LLC, for material you own or are authorized to license, a nonexclusive, worldwide, royalty-free permission to reproduce, edit for clarity and length, format, translate formats, display, distribute, and archive it solely to operate and promote Bellingham Sounds' local music coverage. This includes the website, newsletter, social posts, calendars, and printed or downloadable posters.

We may allow hosting, email, publishing, printing, and social platform providers to handle that material as reasonably necessary for those uses, subject to their service terms. This permission does not authorize us to sell your standalone work, license it for unrelated advertising, or use it to train an AI model. Any materially broader use requires separate permission or another independent legal basis.

Providing a link to someone else's page does not give us a license to its photographs, artwork, recordings, or other protected content. We must have a separate lawful basis to reproduce those materials. You should identify applicable credit requirements and any limits on your authority when submitting.

You may withdraw permission for new publications of material you own by contacting us. Withdrawal does not undo uses already completed or require recall of delivered emails, distributed print copies, or other people's reposts. We will review removal from channels we control under our editorial policy and applicable privacy and intellectual property law. We may retain limited evidence of the submission and permission where reasonably needed to resolve a dispute, satisfy a legal obligation, or maintain appropriate records. Withdrawal does not restrict an independently lawful use of public facts or protected editorial expression.

Editing, attribution, and publication

Submission does not guarantee publication, placement, timing, a reply, a recommendation, or payment. We may verify, combine, shorten, decline, correct, or remove a submission. We will not knowingly edit a quotation or attribution in a way that materially misrepresents its meaning.

Event descriptions, public show notes, editorial notes, and an identified public byline may be published and distributed across our channels. A reply email designated as private is used for administration and follow-up; it is not part of the public listing. Do not put a private reply address into a public description or byline.

Submitting a listing or correction does not enroll you in the newsletter or authorize unrelated marketing. Disclosure of a commercial relationship may be necessary if a submission includes an endorsement or paid promotion.

7. Email and editorial communications

Newsletter subscription is optional and governed by our Newsletter Policy. Follow the confirmation process and use the unsubscribe link or contact us to leave the mailing list. Subscribing does not guarantee that every issue will arrive or that your provider will place it in your inbox. We may still send a narrowly necessary response to a request you initiate or a required legal notice, where permitted by law.

8. Corrections, privacy, copyright, and other complaints

Use Privacy requests and legal contact with the affected page or publication, the information or material at issue, and enough detail to assess your request. You may request an accuracy correction, report an undisclosed commercial relationship, identify a privacy concern, or raise a rights complaint. Our Editorial, Corrections and Commercial Disclosure Policy explains the process. Privacy requests are handled under our Privacy Policy and applicable law.

You do not have to grant publication rights or agree to optional marketing to report a privacy, security, or legal concern. We use information in such a report to assess and respond to it; we do not treat the report itself as material submitted for public promotion. The publication license applies when you separately provide material for publication on those terms.

We may restrict abusive submissions or access that threatens security or other people's rights. Where reasonably appropriate, we will explain a moderation decision and consider a good-faith request to review it. We may preserve relevant records or take immediate protective action when a credible legal, security, or safety concern requires it.

9. Availability and responsibility

Our publications are offered as an information service. To the extent permitted by law, they are provided as available, without a promise of uninterrupted access, complete coverage, or suitability for a particular purpose. We remain responsible for obligations the law does not permit us to disclaim.

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from use of this free information service, such as lost business opportunity or profit, or for an independent third party's conduct merely because we listed or linked to it. This provision does not exclude liability for our fraud, willful misconduct, gross negligence, death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. It does not waive statutory consumer or privacy rights. No provision requires you to indemnify us for our own wrongdoing.

10. Applicable law and disputes

Washington law governs these Terms, without displacing mandatory protections that apply where you live. Where legally permitted, disputes under an enforceable agreement concerning these Terms may be brought in the state courts in Whatcom County, Washington, or the federal court serving that county. This does not prevent you from using a competent court available under mandatory consumer law, bringing an eligible small-claims case, or contacting a regulator. These Terms do not impose mandatory arbitration or waive participation in a class action.

11. Changes and contact

We may update these Terms prospectively and will display the effective date. We will give appropriate notice of a material change and seek renewed agreement where legally required. An update does not retroactively expand a submission license, provide new tracking consent, or change an already agreed transaction without a valid legal basis.

If one provision cannot be enforced, the remaining provisions continue to the extent lawful. A delay in enforcing a right does not by itself waive it. These Terms do not create an employment, partnership, or agency relationship with a reader or submitter.
